Sally Sparrow wakes up one bright and early morning. She gets dressed, she pulls on her shoes, wraps a scarf around her neck, finds her camera, locks her door and goes down the front steps, wandering into the crisp, cool air.
Leaves twirl around her feet as she wanders off, taking in the domestic sights of children playing football, a mother bringing the groceries in, as a baby cries on her hip, a man walks by on a cell phone.
Sally snaps a picture of a little girl trying to feed a cat her lolly.
She reaches a deteriorating edge of town, with a decrepit old building standing before her. The Wester Drumlins. She's been eying the building for days.
There's something foreboding about the building. And she doesn't walk in. Not yet. She glances at a statue, a weeping angel, at the front of the yard.
Cold air blows and her cell phone goes off. She sighs, and answers it, "'Lo Kathy."
She starts off back for her apartment....she'll come back later.
{and then the angel disappears}
